The Philadelphia 76ers needed something, anything off their bench in Game 2 of their series with the Atlanta Hawks.
Shake Milton was normally the first guard off the bench all season, but after some struggles to end the regular season and then a tough series with the Washington Wizards in Round 1, Rivers was turning to Tyrese Maxey instead. Milton only played 38 seconds in Game 1 against the Hawks and he had not played in Game 2 until the 2:46 mark of the third. “My teammates, I just heard over and over again to stay ready from them and I just tried to be prepared for when my number was called and just go out there and play. It felt good because it was the playoffs and we got a win.”
Rivers has not been afraid in these playoffs to go really deep with his rotation as he has expressed confidence in every player on his roster. “That’s your job, your job is to be ready. You don’t know when your name is gonna be called. You just got to be prepared and that’s what I tried to do.”
If Milton can continue his strong play, there is a case that he can earn his spot back in the rotation as the playoffs continue.
