After scoring just five points on four shots – and did not take a shot in the fourth quarter – in Sunday’s Game 7 loss to the Atlanta Hawks, that effort continued a troubling trend in the playoffs for Simmons.
Are the playoffs just too much for him to handle?
“No, no,” Simmons said. “Especially in the playoffs. Every game matters. Every possession matters.”
A question then becomes should Simmons be Philadelphia’s point guard if he is such an offensive liability? Should he be moved to power forward where he can be closer to the basket? It is clear that come playoff time, teams will do a better job of walling him off from getting to the basket, so maybe he can succeed if he starts closer to the basket.
“I’m gonna do what I gotta do and work on my game to better,” Simmons finished.
