The Philadelphia 76ers will hit the road and head north on Monday to take on the Toronto Raptors to begin their preseason schedule. Whether they are able to get a trade done or not, it is unlikely for Simmons to play on Oct. 20.
Therefore, coach Doc Rivers has some goals that he would like to get done as the preseason gets set to begin. “We showed them film of the first three days of practice. It was clear what one team was doing. They lived in the paint. Every time they drove the paint, the ball kept going out for threes. The guys who are playing on the first five right now got to the paint and shot over contested, big arms and they pledged they would play right, and they did. They won every game, so it was a good lesson for them.”
Another big goal for Rivers is to get Maxey on the same page as the staters. “He’ll play, but Joel won’t play in every preseason game, Tobias will not play in every preseason game, probably Seth will not play in every preseason game and Danny absolutely won’t play in every preseason game, maybe none, but they’ll play enough. If I feel like after two games they haven’t played enough, then we’re going to make changes there.”
Philadelphia will convene for one final day of camp on Sunday before making the trip up to Toronto to get the preseason going.
