Sixers discuss offensive struggles as losses pile up, want more pace

USA Today

Article Summary:

The Celtics were able to double team Embiid fairly quickly. “No pace. We’re walking the ball, missing shots, too. We got to get Joel going, No. 1, like we get him going, the whole team gets going. So that would be the No. 1 thing, but that’s two games in a row where I thought just the offense was lackluster. Execution is really bad right now, but again, I’m not concerned by it. We’re gonna get through it. It’s just we’re dropping games while we’re getting through it.”

Along with the pace, the Sixers also rely on ball movement to get open looks for Embiid, Curry, Green and Tobias Harris. Shake Milton came in and gave the team a big lift, and the Sixers also received good play out of Andre Drummond and Matisse Thybulle. “Just getting to our stuff quicker, having some type of sense of urgency with what we’re doing. We talk about it on off days. We talk about it during shootaround. It’s kind of a constant thing for us. I think if we get back on that, moving the ball, and playing together, we’ll be alright.”

On top of the pace – which is always noticeable with this team’s offensive game – they do need to get Embiid going.
